At the beginning of the year I had a goal of daily doing reflection on three lessons I had learned that day. I have been rather sporadic about it but each time I do I have found it greatly beneficial.
Writing something down has power.
It makes it more memorable and helps you to reflect on and formulate your thoughts in a brand new way.
Today I thought I would share my 3 lessons in hopes of encouraging you to start the practice (and keep me motivated to be consistent).
So here it goes.
1. I love when April greets me at the door right when I come home from work. She’s been doing a great job at doing that consistently. I verbalized that to her a while ago and I feel like she has made an effort to do it. Lesson: Open my eyes to the positives that she is doing and relish in those and use them as motivation to follow through on things that delight her.
2. Lesson: Let Elijah climb the tree and calm down a little bit. I find the urge to keep him clean lately and its motivated by my laziness of not wanting to clean him up. How stupid is that. Don’t be a detriment to him because I’m lazy. Let him be a boy and get dirty, and let Alyssandra come outside and walk around in the mud. Life is short.
3. Be present! The thing I seem to have to learn daily. Be in the moment and engage drastically! Today at Meijer I was silly with Elijah, I ran to the bathroom with him to go potty, singing loudly the whole way. Then on our walk home we “flew” like super heroes. Who cares what people think, in those moments make it 100% about them and put the damn phone in your pocket. The look on his face said it all, remember his joy.
What are your 3?
